"What I particularly liked was the index at the front. Don't you hate having to try and hold open a big book whilst searching the index at the back. Another great feature is that you can see at a glance the description of the fruit or nuts flavour because it is printed in a different colour. You immediately know if the flavour appeals to your without searching through the entire description."

Description   A new book has been published by Queensland DPI&F to help commercial passionfruit growers produce top quality fruit for consumers. The Passionfruit Problem-solver Field Guide is an 118-page booklet illustrated with 216 colour photographs covering the pests, diseases, disorders and beneficial insects of passionfruit in Australia.

Jeff Daniells and Roger Goebel provided assistance in its development. The booklet is suitable for use in the field being a handy pocket size and printed on tough waterproof paper.

Description   Mike Foale, the author of this 132 page book,has worked throughout the coconut areas of the world since 1958. Mike has documented unique experiences with the coconut and points to the considerable value this plant has, particularly as a food with great potential to improve health, for well into the future.

The “grandfather palm” at Mapoon, from the thriving coconut plantation in mission times is featured on page 28. There is discussion on the status of the coconut as an “Australian native plant” in the context of its pan-tropical distribution by the ocean.

This book helps present the true value of the coconut, a plant that, through multiple products and uses, adds value to the community and variety to the diet.
